This decadent brownie recipe combines the bright citrus of blood oranges with rich dark chocolate, balanced by the complex acidity of a dark balsamic drizzle.
Dark Chocolate & Blood Orange Brownies

Ingredients
- Brownies:
- 6 oz dark chocolate (60% cocoa or higher), chopped
- 1/2 cup our high-quality Blood Orange Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp baking powder & 1/4 tsp salt
- Optional Topping & Drizzle:
- 1 blood orange, thinly sliced into rounds
- 2-3 tbsp our high-quality Chocolate Dark Balsamic (for drizzling)
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt Chocolate: In a double boiler or microwave, melt the chopped dark chocolate with the Blood Orange Extra Virgin Olive Oil until smooth.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk the sugar and eggs together. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla.
- Optional: Stir in 1-2 tbsp of dark balsamic vinegar directly into the batter for a deeper flavor profile.
- Fold in Dry: Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gently fold until just combined—do not overmix.
- Bake: Spread the batter into the pan. Top with thin blood orange slices. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
- Finish: Let the brownies cool completely in the pan. Before serving, generously drizzle with Chocolate Dark Balsamic Vinegar.
